Patti Soares grew up in an agricultural family in eastern Montana. She has fond memories of roaming her grandparents’ farm in Wibaux, MT and growing up in the rural community of Circle, MT. After college, Patti returned to Circle to work for the USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA), known then as the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS).

Her 26 year career with the FSA allowed her to serve agricultural producers in Circle, Columbus, and ultimately at a statewide level when she moved to the Gallatin Valley to work at the FSA state office in Bozeman. During her career with the FSA, Patti worked a range of projects from developing and implementing portions of the national Farm Bill to spearheading the effort to convert FSA’s programs and records to a computerized system.

Patti has been an active member of the Gallatin Cattlewomen, Gallatin Farm Bureau, and Chamber Ag-Committee during her time in the Gallatin Valley. She is the current chair of the Chamber Ag- Committee’s Farm Fair where all of the 4th grade classes in the area are given an opportunity for a hands-on agricultural learning experience at the Brainard Ranch in May of every spring. Patti will tell you this is her most rewarding volunteer activity…and the activity requiring the most work!

Patti Soares is a loving wife, mother and grandmother who treasures her family, friends and neighbors. Her efforts to serve and support agriculture and youth in the Gallatin Valley have been observed and appreciated by many members of our farm and ranch community. Patti Soares’ 2023 Service to Agriculture award is very well deserved and we are all better for having her as a member of our agricultural community.
