Montana is named the Big Sky state because our wide open skies allow viewing for miles, are brilliant for star watching at night, and create some stunning landscapes during sunrises and sunsets. Sunrise photos are difficult because you need to be in the right spot at the right time to get capture the beautiful color. The spectacular scene only lasts several minutes and the color continues to change as the sun rises higher on the horizon. The early morning light aides in capturing some beautiful photographs whether you are trying to get the color or the shadows cast by the low sun.
