Martin Kimm is a co-owner of Kimm Brothers Farming and a native to the Gallatin Valley. His family has been farming in the Gallatin Valley since the 1950’s and Martin got his start as many do, farming with his father Stanley Kimm. In 1986 Martin and his brother started raising their own foundation seed potatoes. Since that time, the operation has evolved and expanded where Martin bought out his brother’s interest in the operation and brought on his son Taylor and additional partner, Brett Heidema. The trio now raises seed potatoes, small grains, hay and cattle between two farms in Manhattan and Toston. Also of note, Martin and his family market fresh packed potatoes to numerous area restaurants and a produce distributor; with many of the deliveries made by Martin himself.

Leadership, integrity and generosity are key traits the Martin has and continues to exhibit in his career. Martin is an active member of the Manhattan community and the agricultural community of the Gallatin valley. He has been a strong presence at the Manhattan school board, a member of the Gallatin County Farm Bureau, a member of Association of Gallatin Agricultural Irrigators, and very active in his church. Presently, Martin also represents Montana’s seed potato growers on the national Potatoes USA board of directors.

Recognizing Martin Kimm as the 2025 Outstanding Farmer/Rancher award recipient is an honor for the Gallatin Ag-Committee. Pride, enthusiasm and love for what he does is evident when speaking with Martin and observing him going through his daily work. He is known as a hard working, thoughtful and kind member of the community. He is a leader, a good friend and a great neighbor.

Congratulations to Martin Kimm!
