How cold of weather can you fly your drone? Manufacturers put in there specifications that 32 degrees F (0 degrees C) are the limitations for the UAVs. Other recommendations you'll find are down to 0 degrees F (-18 degrees C) for a cold weather flight. First off we have to say to always fly at your own risk and capability. Follow your manufacturer recommendations and fly as safe as possible. Photographs and easier than collecting video footage and flying in rural areas is more safe than in congested city environments.

#PilotFischer highlights the past couple of weeks where he went from 60 degrees to -6 and back to 32 for a range of video projects. The coldest flight he has performed to date is -20 degrees F when a realtor really wanted to have their property pictures complete and the day was very calm. Taking aerial photos only requires pressing the shutter button and is easy to capture versus trying to collect good video footage.

Very important to understand during any cold weather flights is how your battery flight time is going to be reduced. You will normally encounter a 50 to 60% reduction in flight time during cold weather.
