Bill Haugland was raised on his family’s ranch on Biggs-Haugland Rd in the north end of the Gallatin Valley. He has fond memories of his father taking he, his sisters, and many of the neighboring kids to and from the Pass Creek School in a horse drawn sleigh in the winter months.

Following school, Bill stayed in the valley helping his parents Bob & Arlene with the ranch while operating his own trucking business. Bill returned to the ranch full time upon his father’s passing and continues to run the 200 head cattle operation. Bill stays busy in the summers with his haying operation on a combination of deeded and rented ground.

Bill is an active member of the Gallatin Beef Producers, currently serving on its board of directors as Vice-President. He has been on the Gallatin Beef Producers scale committee for many years, helping to maintain and operate the Gallatin Beef Producers scale and facilities in Belgrade. He is a helpful and appreciated neighbor in the Pass Creek community, taking care of many neighbors’ snow plowing chores and working on the Pass Creek Community Center.

Recognizing Bill Haugland as the 2022 Outstanding Farmer/Rancher award recipient is a true reward. He is a longstanding member of the Gallatin Valley’s ranching community, a good friend, and a good neighbor. Congratulations to Bill Haugland!
